Think Teach!

SowingSeed_01Among Jesus’ final instructions, He said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned” (Mark 16:15-16).

Many find fulfilling the great commission overwhelming because they focus more on results than they do effort. Instead of emphasizing solid teaching, they emphasize baptisms. Instead of finding the reward in the labor, they only see reward in the fruit. Too much effort is spent trying to control God’s role and not enough fulfilling man’s role.

Such misguided focus often leads to discouragement and even compromise. A simple solution to this dilemma is to “Think Teach!” Focus on planting the seed of God’s word. Focus on watering that seed. Leave the increase to God.

"5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase" (1 Cor. 3:5-7).
